This medium-sized, alpine multi-purpose breed is being bred at around 1,200 farms in Austria’s inner-alpine dry region (70% of the mountain pastures are located above 1,600 m). The specific strengths such as modest requirements, excellent feed conversion, calving ease, vitality, good build, functional udders and superior milk quality particularly come into their own in low-input systems. |
